Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

ChainShield is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Conformance is assessed against the following standards:

  • WCAG 2.2 — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
  • EN 301 549 — European standard for ICT accessibility, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements
  • Australian Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) — requires equal access to services, including digital services

Accessibility Features

  • Keyboard navigation:All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Modal dialogs trap focus and can be dismissed with the Escape key. A “Skip to main content” link is provided for efficient navigation.
  • Screen reader support: ARIA labels, roles, and live regions are used throughout the application. Modal dialogs use role="dialog" and aria-modal attributes. Data tables include proper header associations.
  • Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Risk severity colours are supplemented with text labels and icons — information is never conveyed by colour alone.
  • Dark theme: The platform uses a dark theme with carefully selected colour tokens for readability and reduced eye strain.
  • Focus indicators: Visible focus outlines on all interactive elements to support keyboard-only navigation. Focus rings use the primary brand colour for clear visibility.
  • Responsive design: The interface adapts to different screen sizes and supports zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Semantic HTML: Pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and semantic elements (<nav>, <main>, <article>, <footer>) for assistive technology navigation.
  • Motion: Animations are subtle and respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query where applicable.

Known Limitations

We are working to address the following areas where conformance is partial:

  • Data visualisations: Complex charts (risk trends, severity breakdowns, radar charts) may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. We provide equivalent data in table format where possible, but some chart interactions remain mouse-dependent.
  • PDF reports: Generated PDF reports may not meet full PDF/UA accessibility standards. We recommend using the web-based views for the most accessible experience.
  • Third-party content: Some embedded content from external sources (vendor websites, intelligence feeds) may not meet our accessibility standards.
  • Light mode: The platform currently only supports a dark theme. A light mode option is planned for a future release.
  • Complex data tables: Some data tables with many columns may require horizontal scrolling on smaller screens, which can be challenging for some users.
